Aspiring entrepreneurs want career advice. Yet for someone you’ve just met, or hardly know, how can you possibly know what advice to give them?
That’s why during the meeting, it is more impactful to ask questions, not give answers.
Some questions you may find useful:
1. What do you consider your gifts to be? What do you do extraordinarily well?
2. When was the last time you were doing something and lost all track of time – when you were so engaged and engrossed, so in the flow, that time flew by?
3. Have you thought about what needs to be done in the world that would utilize your gifts?
4. Do you have a calling in life? Is there some overarching goal you want to achieve?
5. What industry do you want to work in? Why? What about the products, processes, and culture of a particular industry excites you?
6. What more do you need to learn about this industry? What relationships do you need to develop in the industry – to find a job, to get ahead, to be successful?
7. What skills do you still need to develop to succeed in this industry?
